RE: Change to County Issuance of 911 Address Numbers (Fire Numbers)
To Whom This May Concern,
Starting April 1, 2026 the Shawano County Planning and Development Department will no longer be issuing
911 address numbers. This service will instead be performed by the Shawano County Property Listing
Department. The Property Listing Department can be reached at 715-526-4619.
Shawano County Technology Services and the Planning & Development Department met regarding our
current 911 addressing issuance process. It was determined that the issuance of 911 addresses should be placed
with the Property Listing Department.
The Property Listing Department was removed from the Planning and Development Department in 2024. Prior
to this separation the Property Listing division issued 911 address numbers. By Placing 911 addressing
issuance back with Property Listing it allows the County to ensure the address is tied to the parcel identifier,
improves consistency across county systems, strengthens audit tracking, streamlines the process, and supports
timely updates to GIS and public safety consumers.
Moving forward The Planning and Development Departments role with 911 addresses will be the continued
requirement for a parcel to have an address before a sanitary and most land use permits will be issued.
For questions regarding 911 address issuance contact the Property Listing Dept. at 715-526-4619.
For questions regarding zoning, sanitation, and land use permitting contact the Planning and Development Dept.
at 715-526-6766.
Sincerely,
Kyle Waelchli
